Quick Start Guide
Prerequisites
Before deploying Maro, confirm that the technical and user environment meets the following minimum requirements. These ensure smooth browser extension performance, secure deployment, and consistent data visibility across your workforce
1. Supported Browsers
Maro currently supports the latest versions of:
- Google Chrome (v120 or later)
- Microsoft Edge (v120 or later)
If your team requires Firefox or Safari, please submit a feature request.
2. Recommended System Specifications
Because Maro runs as a lightweight browser extension performing behavioral telemetry and policy guidance, it benefits from standard modern workstation specs.
- CPU: Dual-core 2.0 GHz or better (Intel i5 / AMD Ryzen 3 equivalent or higher)
- RAM: 8 GB minimum; 16 GB recommended for users running multiple browser tabs, productivity tools (e.g., Teams, Slack, Notion), or multiple browser profiles.
- Storage: ~500 MB free disk space for browser cache and extension data.
3. Extension Installation Permissions
There are two pathways to install Maro:
- Self-install rights for browser extensions via Chrome or Microsoft stores
- Central deployment configured via Microsoft Intune or MDM equivalent
If using Intune, confirm the Maro browser extension is added to the organization’s managed app catalog and targeted to the pilot user group (see next section).
Talk to your Maro account team if you're using a different MDM solution.
4. Deployment Groups and Rollout Cadence
To ensure smooth onboarding, deployments should follow a phased rollout approach:

Each phase should last 3–5 business days before expansion to the next cohort. This cadence ensures issue isolation and controlled feedback.
5. Maro Admin Console Access
Admins can access Maro's web portal at:
- URL: https://app.seekmaro.com
- Login: Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, or Email Address with OTP
Access enables admins to monitor deployment, set policies, observe workforce usage trends, and measure policy efficacy and adherence goals.
Deploying Maro
1. Provisioning Your Organization
The Maro team will provision your organization in our secure cloud environment.
What we’ll need from you:
- A list of Maro Admins (typically 2–3 people)
- Each admin’s full name and email address
What happens next:
Once we provision your org, each admin will receive an invitation email from Stytch ([email protected]), Maro's login provider. The email subject will read "You've been invited to [Your Organization] on app.seekmaro.com." Click the Log in button to finish creating your account. The invitation link expires in 7 days.
This same login will be used later to access both the Maro Admin Console and the Maro browser extension.
2. Deploying the Browser Extension
The Maro browser extension is required to collect behavioral signals and enable in-context guidance for employees. There are 2 deployment options depending on your rollout phase.
Have your employees install Maro via the Chrome Store or Microsoft Edge Add-Ons marketplace. You can send your own communications, or use a sample email.

3: Signing in to the Browser Extension
Once the extension is installed:
- Click the Maro icon in your browser toolbar.
- Select Sign in with Google or Microsoft and complete your organization’s normal login flow, or by entering your Email Address and getting a one-time passcode (OTP)
- Upon successful sign-in, you'll see a confirmation screen
- Browse as you normally do and watch Maro assess for safety and responsible usage!
Once someone is logged into the extension, it runs quietly in the background to detect social engineering tactics and assess policy adherence actions. No additional setup is required by your workforce.
4: Signing in to the Admin Console
Maro Admins can access the Admin Console to view insights, policies, and user activity.
To sign in:
- Visit https://app.seekmaro.com
- Click Sign in with Google or Microsoft, or use your email and get a one time passcode (OTP) for login
- Once inside, verify that your organization name and domains appear correctly under Company Settings → Your Organization
5: Watch Your Explore Dashboard Populate
Once the browser extension is installed and your users begin normal work, Maro will start collecting behavioral signals and generating insights. Within a few hours, you’ll begin to see activity appear in the Explore Dashboard.
What to Expect
- Early signals: Initial data typically appears within the first few hours of regular browser use
- Full snapshot: Expect a comprehensive view of insights (AI usage, social engineering behaviors, top use cases) after 3-5 days.
- Policy tracking: The dashboard will automatically update with policy adherence, discovered applications, observed use cases, highest risk employees, and violations

Tips for Admins
Use the early stage to confirm that:
- The number of Active Employees matches your pilot deployment size
- Policy Adherence and Use Case metrics begin to trend upward within the first few days
- No unexpected domains or AI tools appear under Discovered Apps
